Summer Home Tour Recap & Sneak Peeks

Have you been following along with the 2015 Summer Home Tour that is happening this week?  Marty from A Stroll Thru Life coordinated 30 bloggers to open up their homes for tours for five days.  Today is Day 3 of the tour, so I wanted to give you a quick recap and a sneak peek of what’s to come!

On Monday, Sarah from Life on Virginia Street shared her gorgeous home.  Sarah uses a lot of neutrals but has added blues and greens with a nautical/coastal feel for the summer.  I am in love with this hallway!

On Tuesday, Chelsea from Making Home Base opened up her home for a tour.  She has such a airy and refreshing style of decorating!  Isn’t her living room beautiful?!

Today, Kris from Driven by Decor is sharing her home.  Kris is one of my all-time favorites and if you hop over to her blog, I’m sure you’ll see why!  She has an amazing sense of style that is both beautiful and functional and she shares lots of great DIY projects on her site.

Coming up on Thursday, get ready for an explosion of color with Jennifer from Dimples & Tangles.  Jennifer has a love of green and she uses it in the most beautiful ways throughout her home!  She recently redecorated her master bedroom as part of the One Room Challenge and the transformation is gorgeous!

On Friday, I’ll be sharing my home tour, as will Pam from Simple Details.  I promise you will love the inside of Pam’s home, but I have to take just a moment to talk about the outside of her home.  Isn’t this one of the most beautiful homes you’ve seen?!  I love to drive up to this every day!

Summer Seltzer Giveaway!

This is my kids’ last week of school and I’m running around like a crazy person with events, parties, and a lengthy To-Do list , so I hope you’ll understand and forgive today’s “fluff” piece.  I promise this is still a fun post, though – lots of eye candy PLUS a chance to win a beautiful, blue vintage reproduction seltzer bottle!

Some of you may have seen Sunday’s Facebook posts with the amazing things I found at the Alameda Point Antique Faire.  For those of you that didn’t, here’s a chance to “shop” along with me and see the amazing vintage beauties I found.

One item that I repeatedly found this month was dress forms!  There were lots and lots of vintage, industrial dress forms in all shapes and sizes!  I already own one, but I’ve decided to give it a fun update.  Stay tuned…!

I also found a lot of beautiful pieces of furniture.  Even though some were in their deconstructed state, I think their lines are gorgeous!

And if you wanted to grow {or start} a collection, this was a great day to do it!

While I would have loved to buy everything that I saw, I only came away with a couple of items.  I purchased some of this mailbox door fronts for an upcoming project….

…plus my vintage suitcase collection grew just a bit, as did my ironstone collection thanks to The Vintage Bricoleur!

And now for the giveaway!

To kick off the Summer, I’m giving you the chance to win this beautiful blue vintage reproduction seltzer bottle that I picked up a few weeks ago!  It’s a reproduction so it doesn’t function as an actual seltzer bottle, but the top does unscrew so the bottle can be filled or it can be used as a vase.  In fact, there are lots of ways to use a seltzer bottle like this.  You can get more ideas by visiting {this post}.

Summer Home Projects & Tour

Just one week of school left for the kids and then it will officially be Summer in our house!  I know that for most, having the kids home means less time for projects, but somehow, I seem to do most of my home decorating projects during the Summer.  I have quite a long list of things I want to accomplish, but only a handful are realistic given my budget.

My family room is getting just a few updates. I bought a new coffee table off of Craigslist the day before I left for London but I haven’t had a chance to decorate it just yet.  I’m also slowly updating my family room gallery wall to replace some of the art with photos that I took on my recent trip to Europe.  TIDBITS & TWINE Collected Gallery Wall

I also bought some great French address plaques, like the ones below, that I want to add to the wall.

I’m still searching for just the right sofa for the living room,  but in the meantime, I’m playing around with some new accent pillows.  Thank goodness for generous return policies because I still haven’t decided whether I’m going to keep any/all of these.  What do you think?

I have two projects planned for my master bedroom, but for some reason, my bedroom always seems to be the last room I tackle.  I worked on refinishing my antique chairs last summer, but still haven’t finished!  I’m determined to get these done this summer, though.

The second project is the addition of an armoire similar to the one shown below as the final piece of furniture for my bedroom.  The tricky part is that I really want it to have legs, and I haven’t seen that many that do!

Here’s a great example of how a highboy like this could be used in a room:

I did come across this highboy at the consignment shop the other day and for $279 I almost bought it on the spot!  But I don’t think that the detail at the top will work with my room…

I’m also searching for a small antique suitcase to add to the stack of two that I currently have in my living room and since I’m headed to the antique fair tomorrow, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that one turns up in my search.TIDBITS&TWINE-Vintage-Leather-Suitcases

I’m hoping that I have some new things to share with you next week because next week, I’m participating in a 2015 Summer Home Tour with 30 amazing bloggers all organized by Marty from A Stroll Thru Life.
