25 Glamorous Gray Kitchens

I used to think that gray only worked well in modern design or in seaside-themed rooms.  Wrong!  Gray continues its reign as the hottest neutral color right now and exudes a sense of sophistication and glamor.  There are so many different styles of gray to choose from, such as Pewter, Charcoal, Greige (a cross between Gray and Beige) and Blue Gray, that the color can work in any style of kitchen from traditional, to modern to eclectic.  And think beyond just walls!  In the images below you’ll see that the color introduced not just on the walls, but the backsplash, the cabinets and even the glaze.

Quick Tip – The keep gray from looking too dreary in a kitchen, try pairing it with warmer material, such as wood, or a warmer pop of color like red or yellow!

  1. On the six photograph from the top “by Orren Pickell Building Group, Gray walls picking up marble countertop”. Do you have any idea what color gray that is on the walls???

  2. what about Grey glaze on white cabinets. Is that a popular look? Will this be a fad? Buying all new cabinets… not sure wheather to buy plain white or get the grey glaze? with black granite countertops/black island with colonial white granite?

    • Hi Sherry – So sorry for the delay in responding! It sounds like you have some beautiful materials picked out! I have glazed cabinets in my kitchen but like most stylized things, I think the days of glazing will eventually pass….but even if/when it does, I still like the look so whether it’s popular doesn’t really matter to me because I’m the one living with them and I like them! My personal feeling, though, is that white cabinets will have greater longevity than glazed, but that’s just my opinion. That being said, I honestly think it’s personal preference and which look appeals to you most. Did one appeal to you more than the other? If so, I say go with your gut. A kitchen remodel is a big investment and if, for example, you purchase white cabinets because you feel they will be in style longer but don’t really love them, then they aren’t a good investment for *you*. I find that most times, if you buy what you truly *love* then you will be happy with your choices. I hope that helps! Good luck with your project!

  3. Thank you so much for this inspiration! It has guided me in my new kitchen design! I wrote about it here and linked one of the kitchen photos in this post. These kitchens are gorgeous and I really played around with a white kitchen idea, and these made me realize I can incorporate gray AND white cabinets to make my look stand out!

  4. These kitchens look great. I noticed that the faucets, draw pulls, and fixtures weren’t matchy-matchy. I guess people are changing this up now by intermixing the brown and the brushed nickel?

  5. OW!! This transformation can out amazing!! Love the grey and white contrast!! Makes it look so clean and open! I’m a sucker for your before & after series!!
    Thanks for sharing.

  6. Gray is always a color you can`t go wrong with! Every now and then I see gray design and it is not eye-catching by any means. The good part is that you can adjust style with small tweaks like paintings or colored plates. You also can mess with mosaic a bit.

  7. We are buying a new house and planning to paint the entire first floor a light gray color with white trim. Would having a slightly darker gray cabinets in kitchen be too much gray?? Thoughts about other cabinet paint options… I’m not sure about white cabinets…
