Christmas Tour of the Guest Bedroom

This week’s Christmas Home tours have officially kicked off today!  While my stop on the tour isn’t until this Friday, I thought I’d get a head start and share with you how my guest bedroom looks this holiday season!

You might notice that the color scheme isn’t my usual, since I tend to use nontraditional colors a lot, but with the black painted furniture and the deep blue blankets, I really thought this room called for some traditional red and green.  Mostly, I just wanted an excuse to use plaid….I don’t know why but plaid was really calling to me this year and thankfully, I love the way it looks in this room!

I replaced the His and Hers signs that were above the beds with All is Calm, All is Bright, which seemed fitting to me in this room.  {As an aside, you wouldn’t believe how much controversy those His and Hers signs stirred up!  I just thought they were cute!}

Christmas decor in the guest bedroom

These frames are just inexpensive frames from IKEA that I spray painted black.  The signs I made myself on the computer and had them printed at as an oversized engineering print.  I was able to print BOTH for just $3.58!  A little sprig of mistletoe completed the look.  Stay tuned in the coming weeks for a printable version of these signs that you can print and use in your own home!

I had fun adding Christmas-y bits and baubles to my hutch.  I might have also added to my trophy collection just a bit….!

A small pine fit perfectly in my large trophy and I found these cute pom-poms while shopping at HomeGoods and couldn’t resist added them to the top of the hutch to bring in a bit of red and white.

I kept my usual deckle-edged books and bits of ironstone in the cabinet, but replaced my usual stash of pencils with some yummy candycanes and added bits of red and green to help tie the room together.  You can save and print this free Merry & Bright printable {HERE}.

My super-talented friend Kelly gave me a gorgeous vintage wooden crate and attached a leather riding strap to it as a handle.  I thought it was the perfect fit underneath the hutch to hold extra towels for guests….plus a few Christmas accents!

I’m hope my guests enjoy the room all decked out for the holidays…if you like it too, be sure to PIN it!

Stay tuned later this week for a look at my master bedroom decorated for Christmas, which has a completely different look and feel than this room!  But for now, pop over to Monday’s tours to see what these amazingly talented designers have done!

Christmas Decorating Ideas {2016}

For those of you that are new here, you might not have realized that I had to take a year off of blogging due to personal reasons {post HERE}.  As such, I didn’t post any pictures from Christmas last year.  Actually, I didn’t really decorate all that much for Christmas last year….well, at least not as much as I usually do!  At any rate, today I’m sharing with you a few pics that I snapped while on hiatus last year in hopes that they might give you some Christmas decorating inspiration for your own home.

For the first time ever, we purchased a flocked Christmas tree.  Yes, this beauty is the real deal!

I tend to wrap presents the day before Christmas {I always have been and always will be a procrastinator!}, so there’s always plenty of room for festive goodies under the tree.

And while I didn’t really decorate anything else in the living room or adjacent dining room, I did add some garland and dried roses to the fireplace mantel.

My bedroom was rather sparse last Christmas and while these aren’t my favorite pictures, I wanted to show you the cute cedar skirt I made for my vintage dress form!

My grandma’s pearl and one of her brooches added the perfect finishing touch.

And stop by next week because I’ll be sharing my 2017 Christmas Home Tour as part of a group with 29 other bloggers!

And just for you, here’s a sneak peek of my home tour!!
