Since today is the first day of December, I figured it was a good day to share Christmas in my dining room!  I started decorating earlier than usual this year so that I could have my Christmas tree up for the 12 Bloggers of Christmas tour.  {You can see my tree HERE} The upside to decorating early is that I can enjoy it for longer.  The downside is that fresh greenery isn’t available before Thanksgiving where I live!  So what’s a girl to do?  Use boxwood, of course!

In keeping with my Christmas tree in the adjacent living room, I decided to skip the color red this year and instead decorate with silver, gold, blue, and white.

I used my favorite Ironstone tureen as a centerpiece and added white taper candles.  A white feather boa fills in the space nicely and represents snow at the same time!TIDBITS&TWINE-Dining-Room-Ironstone-Centerpiece-Christmas-2015

And in all sincerity, I am in *love* with this boxwood wire ribbon that I picked up.  I adds just enough color and interest to the candles, don’t you think?!

The numbers came off the back of my chairs and in their place, I added my very favorite mini boxwood wreaths on the backs of the chairs {I secured them with long pins}.

The place settings are very simple silver chargers with white and blue dishes.

A rustic bell and some boxwood and a bit of interest to the center of each plate.

My chandelier looked a little under-dressed once the table was set, but with no greenery available, I had to come up with a new plan.  Feather boas and bells it is!

When moving things around to accommodate the Christmas tree in the living room, I discovered that my stack of vintage suitcases fit perfectly in the dining corner underneath my wall of serving platters.  I like them in this new spot so much I think I’ll leave them here year-round!

I put an extra platter, some towels, and serving pieces on the top within easy reach of the table.

With the dining room done, I’ve moved on to other parts of the house which I’ll share with you over the next week.

I think it’s safe to assume the boxwood and boa theme will continue, though…. :)

Hi Angelina! Thank you…I love them too and use them all over the house! They are from AntiqueFarmhouse. :)

  3. I love the mix of elegant with the rustic (like the bells) and like the boxwood. Had to laugh at your “snow”– great idea! I love shabby chic and also love rustic, rusty, etc. and have a mixture myself. All told, very nice job!

  4. You are a breath of fresh air! I have always loved blue and silver for Christmas. The rustic bells and boa are the perfect final touch!

Thank you so much, Ashley! This approach was unintentional, but I’m happy with how it turned out. Changing things up can be fun! Happy holidays! :) Kim

  7. I like your thinking outside the box way of decorating for Christmas. Who thinks of using a boa? Those bells are perfect. Are they old or did you purchase them somewhere recently? I’d love to have some great old (or old looking ) bells.

Thank you so much, Joanne!! Those bells are actually new from Hobby Lobby. I think they came in a pack of 6 for $5 {or something like that after the sale price}. I also bought a box rustic bells in various sizes from HomeGoods recently and those are the bells that I have on top of the plates. Good luck with your search!! :) Kim
