Merry Christmas!  If you’re here visiting from Alicia’s gorgeous farmhouse Christmas tour over at Thrifty & Chic, welcome!  I’m so glad you popped over to take a tour of my home decorated for Christmas.  Marty from A Stroll Thru Life was kind enough to organize this week’s tour and there have been so many gorgeous homes on display.  If you haven’t seen the other homes on the tour, be sure to click on the links at the bottom of this post.

Now on to today’s Christmas tour!  Today I’m sharing with you a look at my master bedroom Christmas tree and fireplace mantel in hopes that it might give you some decorating ideas and inspiration for a nontraditional Christmas look.

Pink roses and ironstone Christmas display

My master bedroom is decorated primarily in French blue and white, and is very feminine and elegant.  As such, I decided to go the nontraditional route and for my Christmas decorations and chose gold, silver, white with various shades of pink and blush.  My bedroom is actually one of my favorite spots in my whole house and this is why…

The mantel is decorated with clippings from my redwood trees, along with an assortment of ornaments, vintage books, and pink roses.

Pink Christmas mantel decor

Originally I only used one shade of pink, but then realized that the various shades gave the look more interest and depth and am happy that I decided on using a variety of pinks and blushes.  An assortment of ornaments in a mercury glass compote makes for an interesting display.

For those familiar with my master bedroom, you’ll know that I usually keep my vintage dress form to the right of the fireplace.  Not to worry, though!  I simply moved her to the other side and gave her an elegant new look with the help of these gorgeous, vintage strands of Majorca pearls from my good, personal friend Jen over at MOB Jewels.  She’s upcycled these beautiful vintage pearls with stunning Swarovski clasps, the larger on which has over 100 crystals on it!  I’m using a combination of pink and cream pearls on my dress form to complement the rest of the look in my bedroom.   {As an aside, MOB Jewels isn’t in any way sponsoring this post, but Jen is a good friend and I *love* her designs and thought you would, too!  You can visit her shop online HERE and navigate to the Pearls section to see these exact necklaces.}

I might have even used on of the vintage Majorca strands on a side table, too…

Underneath my tree, I’ve used my usual faux white fur throw blanket as a tree skirt.  Why buy a tree skirt that you use once a year when an ordinary throw blanket will work just as well, and can be used year-round?!  My favorite sled, piled high with books, packages, and old letters made an appearance again this year…

…as did my nutcracker.

I’ve never put a Christmas tree in my bedroom before, but I definitely see this as a new tradition!

And at night, I love to see the warmth of the glow from the lights and candles.  So soothing!

To see more of my home decorated for Christmas, you can tour my guest bedroom {HERE}.  I chose to use traditional red and white to complement the black furniture and blue blankets,so it’s got quite a different look to it than my master bedroom!.  You can take the full tour {HERE}.

The next stop on the tour is Anita over at Far Above Rubies, so be sure to pop over to see her beautiful Christmas decor!

  2. Hi Kim,

  7. Beautiful! My favorite. Do you mind sharing what the snow clumps are in the tree? I would love to add that to my tree. Thank you.

    1. Tidbits&Twine says:

      Hi Sandie – Great question! I totally forgot to mention what was on the tree! The white clumps are actually feature boas that I just tucked in here and there. I don’t have a flocked tree but wanted more white so thought boas could help create the look of snow. :)
