If you read my previous post on How to Mix and Match Dining Chairs, you’ll know that my only regret when I bought my dining room chairs was that I didn’t purchase head chairs that were completely different than the side chairs.

White Slipcovered Dining Chairs

I really do like the idea of mixing dining chairs to create a more unique look. And for my home, I really wanted a white slipcovered head chair. Practical? Maybe not since I do have pets and kids, but that’s never stopped me before!

I’d been browsing online for a few months when the most unexpected thing happened…

The Deal of the Century!

One day while searching Facebook Marketplace, I saw a picture of one lonely slipcovered chair listed for $50. The picture was bad, the title was something simple like “Dining Chair” and the description was vague. But I thought to myself, “That chair looks like Restoration Hardware….”

A lonely chair in a storage unit….could it be RH?

I contacted the seller to get details and to find out if she had more than one. As luck would have it, she had four available! And the chair was Restoration Hardware! It was the Belgian Slope Arm Side Chair upholstered in white vintage velvet with casters.

And that chair retails for a whopping $800!

Needless to say I scooped up two of those chairs immediately! Not only were they white like I wanted, but also velvet. And I really wanted a different fabric from my standard linen. And let’s not forget, I was saving $750 per chair!

My French Dining Room Today

I’m so happy with my new slipcovered head chairs! I wanted something that would lighten the look of the room a bit and I love that they tie in with my balloon drapery panels.

Mismatched French Dining Chairs

Despite that the chairs are velvet, their simple shape helps to lessen the formality. And trust me. My home is anything but formal!

While using mismatched chairs does break from tradition, I still feel the the room has a bit of formality given the use of velvet.

While the addition of white slipcovered head chairs don’t dramatically change the look of my dining room, sometimes it’s nice just to freshen things up bit!
