Today I’m sharing a mini refresh that I recently gave my living room. A new mirror for the mantel, some new florals, and an accessory refresh gave my living room the Spring update it needed!

Want to know a secret about this Spring tour?

All of the botanicals are FAKE! Yes, every single one.

Here’s the thing….we as bloggers try to take pretty pictures so that people will like them. Flowers, especially in Springtime, seem to be a requirement. My favorite photos always have flowers in them, but I have to go buy them just for the photoshoot. {No, I’m not made of money! I don’t have flowers in my home every day!} Normally, when not photographing, my botanicals are fake. So this time, I thought I’d share something different and more affordable with you. An entire room decorated using faux botanicals for Spring!

Okay, now back to the tour…

First, I felt it was important to warm the space up a bit. Not just for Spring decorating, but also just in general. The fireplace wall of this room used to be a golden color, but I recently painted it BM Classic Gray. As a result, all of the colors in the room were now cool colors. So I wanted to add a bit of gold to warm the space up!

A Spring Styled Mantel

With that in mind, I purchased this gorgeous mirror to layer on the mantel (and spent weeks anxiously awaiting its arrival!). The size was perfect and I love the delicate detailing on it. I added a small framed piece of flower art that I had out in my garage to add color and represent the season.

And those familiar with this room will notice that I have a new Santos doll in my collection! It was a gift from hubby. :)

I swapped out the branches in my vintage jar. These Ginkgo stems are now my all-time favorite faux branches!

Simple Coffee Table Display

My coffee table is very large so I used a series of objects running lengthwise to decorate it.

My mom bought me this round, wooden bowl about 20 years ago and I also seem to find a use for it. Right now, it’s just holding a few moss ball for an added pop of green.

This is a heavy, iron urn that a friend gave to me a few years ago. It’s very shallow and doesn’t have a hold in the bottom, so it doesn’t work for live plants. But I love how this faux fern looks in it!

For a little pop of color to tie in with the mantel artwork, I used a couple of rose stems in a vintage glass.

The brass handle on the magnifying glass and brass candelabra bring a little warmth to the coffee table display and tie in with the mantel.

The Seating Area

To the right of my fireplace, I have two wingback French chairs with an oversized wine tasting table in the middle (the top tilts down).

I swapped out my chunky knit throw for this lightweight cashmere one from my holiday shopping guide!

I added a little more gold to the side table with a magnifying glass on a stand and a small gold frame. It usually has my kids’ picture in it but I don’t like to show them here so I used a piece of Carl Holsoe artwork {you can get it for FREE here}

The Styled Cabinet

To the left of the fireplace, you can see my blue cabinet that I scored off of Facebook Marketplace.

I made some quick updates to the shelf styling to include more moss and a small fern. I also swapped out the artwork for something more Spring-like from my free downloadable library of art.

The French Side Table

Here you can see how my living room and dining room connect. The living room is sunken by 1 step.

Now let’s talk about this amazing basket! I bought it a couple of years ago at an antique fair for an absolute steal! For Spring, I moved it into the living room as a low side table. It holds some magazines, ironstone with more faux roses, my favorite coasters, and this cute cherub head that I picked up last week from HomeGoods!

I enjoy your beautiful inspirations, but this was perfect timing! My Mom has moved into a dementia care facility recently & I want to make her room pretty. Only synthetic plants & flowers are allowed for safety reasons, which I completely understand, but didn’t want to get gaudy fake things. These are gorgeous & so realistic. I went & purchased some & the flowers even have a realistic feel to the petals. They’re perfect! Thank you for helping me find a way to bring these small joys to my Mom!

  3. Hi Kim,
This room is positively beautiful. The wide-angle shot and the great details you’ve added look like something out of a favorite magazine. The faux greens and flowers are amazing. I’ll definitely be checking that out.
Great job, I really like what you’ve accomplished.

  4. I so appreciate your loyalty to your own particular style and aesthetic. You really have a great balance of timeless pieces that look fresh and updated with how you style them. And the Spring details you have added really do say “spring”! I really like the ginkgo branch; those leaves are so unique.
