History
Alfred Meakin Ltd. was founded in 1875 in Tunstall, Staffordshire—the heart of England’s pottery district. Meakin became known for durable yet elegant Royal Ironstone China that was exported widely to Europe and North America. The coat-of-arms backstamp on this teapot is associated with late Victorian to Edwardian production (circa 1897–1913), a golden age for simple white ironstone that balanced utility with refined, architectural shapes.
