Several years ago, I wrote an article about my 10 favorite cleaning products {including the BEST window cleaner ever!} I hate cleaning so if I like something, it’s because it works really well without a lot of effort on my part. Over the years, I’ve found a few others that are at the top of my list, so today is part 2 of the 10 best cleaning products for your home!

Please note that I am not qualified to speak about the environmental and health safety of these products, I can only speak to their effectiveness as cleaners to do they job they advertise.  This is NOT a sponsored post, as these are my true recommendations. Closeup of a Folex bottle best spot cleaner

Folex

How did I not know about Folex sooner! My friend told me this was her favorite spot remover so I gave it a try. This is a game-changer! I use it on my carpet, upholstery, and clothing and it is BY FAR the best spot remover I’ve ever tried. Sometimes the spot disappears just by spraying it, without requiring any scrubbing on my part! And with 4.5 star reviews on Amazon with over 12,000 reviewers, I’m not alone in thinking Folex is fantastic.

Bona Hardwood Floor Cleaner

When I got new hardwood floor for my home, this was the only cleaner the flooring store recommended and is still the only cleaner I use to this day. It’s easy, doesn’t leave any streaks, and the pads can be thrown in the wash to be cleaned. I’ve actually tried the competitive product and thought that one left streaks, but Bona never leaves streaks and dries very quickly. Note that this is a cleaner, not a polisher, so it doesn’t leave a shine. {Bona does make a polishing kit, though!}

Closeup of Downy Unstopables Fresh Scent

Downy Unstopables

While staying at my mom’s house, I noticed that her towels smelled amazing. She told me about Down Unstopables and I’ve been using them for my towels and sheets ever since! You add the beads to your wash basin and they put this amazing scent on your wash. They have various scents but I only like the Fresh scent. It really does make your laundry smell amazingly fresh! It can be used on all laundry, so it’s just my personal preference that we don’t put it on our clothes and only use it for towels and sheets.

Microfiber Cleaning Cloth

Full transparency, I have a variety of brands, not just this one. But honestly, I feel they’re all about the same. These are the ONLY products I use when it comes to dusting, and dusting is one of only two cleaning tasks that I actually enjoy (the other being vacuuming). Microfiber cloths actually trap dust so it’s not being spread around as you dust. What I love the most, though, is that once they are dirty, you can simply throw them into the wash and use them again, so it’s a one-time purchase. These have 4.7/5.0 stars with over 22,000 reviews!

Swiffer Duster Super Extender

My love of the Swiffer Duster Super Extender was born out of my laziness when it comes to cleaning. While I love the microfiber cloths mentioned above for regular dusting, I just didn’t feel like bending over for baseboards or getting on a ladder for tall areas. The Swiffer with the extendable handle is perfect for both jobs. I just walk around the house resting the Swiffer on the baseboards and it traps all of the dust as I drag it along. The head swivels so that fibers can reach into all of the groves and the fibers lock the dust in, so it’s not kicked up into the air to settle elsewhere. The Swiffer is also great for hard-to-reach areas like top shelves and chandeliers.

Dyson V11 Animal Cordless Vacuum

I have the V8 because the 11 wasn’t available when I bought mine, but I would prefer the 60 minute run-time of the V11. I know there’s always a debate as to whether a Dyson is worth the price. I’ve tried other cordless brands and this is by far my favorite. I have dark hardwood floors (which show everything), as well as stairs and carpet, and I use my Dyson for all of these areas. It’s also powerful enough that I use it for my car! It comes with several attachments and it definitely picks pet hair up off of furniture.

Closeup of Black Diamond Grout Cleaner safe for natural stone

Black Diamond Grout Cleaner

Yes, I’m the one who hates to clean but also decided to get white 2″ hex marble tile installed throughout my bathroom floor. Lol! Needless to say, the grout has become dirty over the year that we’ve had it. Marble requires special care so as not to scratch or etch the stone, so I was worried that an acid-free grout cleaner safe for marble wouldn’t be very effective. Thankfully, I was wrong! Black Diamond Grout Cleaner works like a charm. I simply sprayed it, let it sit, and then scrubbed it with a brush. I used a soft cloth to wipe away the mess and it left behind clean, white grout that looks almost new.

Here’s a Before & After

Stonetech Mold & Mildew Stain Remover

Since my shower is also marble, I needed a shower cleaner that was powerful, but wouldn’t damage the stone. Stonetech Stain Remover has worked wonders without damaging the marble, so we’ve been quite happy with this product. It does have a very strong odor, though, so we always open the window and turn on the fan after cleaning.

Closeup of Lyson Neutra Air can

Lysol Neutra Air

Well, this one is hard to find these days, but Lysol Neutra Air is my favorite room freshening spray. I have teenagers and pets and sometimes, my home gets a little funky. I wanted something that would remove the odors quickly and not just cover them up with a scent. This is a great spray to just neutralize the odors and it doesn’t leave a lingering chemical or flowery smell…just clean!

Closeup of two bottles of Downy wrinkle releaser

Downy Wrinkle Releaser

I was doing a photo shoot for my guest bedroom and lamenting to my friend that I needed to iron the bedskirt, when she suggested I try Downy Wrinkle Releaser. I borrowed hers and I can attest that it works! Just spray and smooth the fabric and wa-la! Wrinkles are gone. I still think ironing does a better job, but for things like bedskirts, sheets, table linens, or even clothing you need “ironed” quickly, this product definitely gets the job done. I even used it for my table runner when I saw a few wrinkles after I set the table and didn’t want to remove everything to iron it. It also comes in a travel size so you can take it on a trip to remove any wrinkles created in the suitcase.

Question:

Has anyone tried the e-cloth? I’m really curious how this product works for removing bacteria from kitchen counters.

Please share your favorite products with me! I’m always looking for ways to make cleaning easier. Lol!

  2. A cleaner that instantly removes marks from sinks, dishes, and even countertops. Thank you!

  3. Thank you for these tips Kim _ We also like the Downy Unstopables. We are working our way through the blue one (like yours) but have the pink cap version on stand-by. Does the grout cleaner work on mildew, or just general dirt ? I am hoping someone answers your question about e-clothes. I keep seeing them recommended on various home cleaning you tube videos, and would like to know if they are a good product !

    1. Tidbits&Twine says:

Hi Kristine! The grout cleaner does NOT remove mold or mildew, just dirt, oil, soap scum, etc. The Stonetech cleaner that I recommended is specifically for mold and mildew, though! And no word on the e-cloths yet but I’m hoping someone will chime in! :) Kim
