It’s no secret that I love and appreciate a bit of bling in my home.  I like to include a bit of sparkle here and there to add a bit of elegance and a touch of femininity.  In my opinion, crystal is timeless, classic, and never goes out of style.

I used to think that crystal was only for chandeliers and only for very formal or fancy rooms.  Not true!  You can add a bit of sparkle to any room, even casual ones.  The current trend for crystal seems to be 1) use it use sparingly and 2) mix it with more casual elements to create a bit of contrast. {Note that for purposes of this post, I’m using the term “crystal” in a general manner, referring to actual crystal, cut glass, or even acrylic, so long as it resembles crystal.}

Chandeliers are of course the first thing that probably comes to mind when you think about using crystal in your decor and admittedly, they are beautiful!

But small touches of crystal can be equally beautiful, like cabinets with delicate crystal knobs.

Crystal also looks beautiful used on lamps, button tufted upholstery, and even curtains!  {I love the idea of using crystal on the curtains.  You could even add the accent buttons directly onto the existing pleat!}

Inexpensive crystal garland can also be used to dress up areas of your home, like the crystal I added to my chandelier {post here} or the garland draped on the mirror below.

In my own home, in addition to the chandelier in the dining room, I’ve also added touches of crystal throughout my bedroom on door knobs, drawer pulls and even as a bookmark.

  1. I have natural crystals of all different sizes laying on the windowsill in the kitchen. Enjoy the sparkle and rainbows daily. Would love a crystal chandelier like the one in the bedroom picture. Just don’t know how to hang it and not get shocked!

      Little rainbows in the kitchen sounds beautiful! If you’re not ready to install a new light fixture, you can always add crystals to your existing one!
