I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and is enjoying their time as we close out 2014.  My family and I spent the day together playing games and opening gifts.  I cooked brunch and dinner but still never quite managed to get out of my PJs.  That’s my kind of day!  And today, believe it or not, is my birthday!  Actually, I like to think of it more like my anniversary….the anniversary of my 21st birthday but I’m not telling which anniversary it is!!

For my birthday, I thought I’d give a gift to you as my way of thanking you for making this a great year.  But first, I wanted to share some of my favorite decorating items from 2014.

1. Boxwood Wreaths

As I’m sure you’ve realized by now, I *love* boxwood wreaths in any and every size!  I like that they add an organic look to the room but are maintenance free and work with the decor year-round.

2. Antique Cameras

2014 brought about the start of my antique camera collection – hooray!  I have two so far and my collection might stop at just these two, but I really enjoyed researching and purchasing them.

3. Ironstone

I also worked on my ironstone collection in 2014, although I embellish it a bit my mixing in inexpensive pieces of white dinnerware from Target.  :)

4. Vintage Trophies (& Roses)

I find so many uses for my vintage trophies, everything from flower vases to remote holders!

5. Teacups

I collected a few little teacups that are just too cute for words.

6. Fresh Flowers

More and more I find myself stopping by the floral department when I go grocery shopping.  I especially like to have flowers in my room – it feels so decadent!  And if I remember, I dry them so that I can use them again for decorating.

  1. I got on board with using trays in various places…on the kitchen counter to corral daily items, on my coffee table to make use of some smaller items together, but easily moved when a puzzle needs to be completed.

  2. I love linens and wreaths around the house. I do love plants but I just don’t do that well with them even though I try very hard.

  3. Just recently took out my old brownie camera and my grand father’s old camera for our mantle.

  4. My favorite items to decorate with are vintage ornaments. I have a lovely collection from the 40’s and 50’s that were my mother-in-laws. Whenever I use these ornaments, they bring back wonderful memories when Mom and Dad both were with us.

  5. Love your cameras I. Have started collecting them also! I have been decorating a lot with cobrbels and architectural
    l items!

  6. I loved bundling up cinnamon sticks and decorating with them!

  7. My favorite items to decorate our home with are family photos in unique frame collections.

  8. Happy Birthday! Today is my birthday, too! :) Love your beautiful and inspiring site.

  9. Fresh flowers are my favorite! They really add to any room. My grocery store has an amazing floral department and it really isn’t a big investment for a personal treat!

  10. I like using small vintage wooden boxes to elevate things in a vignette. I also use a lot of natural items–bird nests, rocks, shells, dried flowers, etc.

  11. Grainsacks are my go-to item lately – hanging on ladder rungs or as a table runner. I love them

  12. Always fresh flowers, art we collect on our travels. Things that make me feel in love with my home.

  13. Oh goodness, there are so many things I’m drawn to and like to decorate with, but the common factor is that they are mostly antiques (when possible) and greenery of any type.

  14. I have been really into vintage plates and teacups lately!

  15. I love tucking in little birds of porcelain, plaster, metal, or other materials (the chippier the better) around my tabletop displays. Reminds me of my dad, who always had an eye to the sky.

  16. This year I have been draw to vintage galvanized things. They add a nice farmhouse/garden feel.

  17. I have started using tea plates for decorating and holding small items.

  18. I also love my boxwood wreaths but this year I find myself gravitating toward pretty napkins.
