Welcome to Home & Garden Tidbits. This is a collection of everything that caught my eye this past week from renovations to gardens, home decor finds, and more!

Let’s get inspired together!

Exciting things happening here this week! We’re getting solar installed along with backup batteries. Our energy bill is SO expensive each month and January will bring an 11% monthly price increase. Since we live in California and get sun much of the year, solar makes sense for us. Plus, now we won’t experience the power outages that we get whenever it’s windy, rainy, too hot, too cold…. Lol!

My fireplace mantel makeover continues with progress being made on the sheetrock repair. All of the repairs and preparations need to be done prior to installation so it’s a bit of a process.

And, we’re finally planning our first family trip since before the pandemic! We’re planning to travel to Switzerland and northern Italy. If you have any tips or recommendations, be sure to send them my way!

So that was my week. Now let’s move on to what captured my attention this week!

Home Decor Finds

You know I’m a sucker for a vintage portrait and this one is a good one! It’s a digital download so you can print it at whatever size you need. This is one way that I easily change art in my home! I really like this portrait as well. And don’t forget to highlight your art with a great picture light. This is the one I have.

And while we’re on the subject of lighting, I have this bookshelf lamp which I love and adore. But I recently came across this one that is battery operated. This is such a great way to add light and dimension to your shelving!

I found quite a few pillow covers that I loved this week, too! This is a great neutral but the print makes it interesting. I like this one too! And I’m actually considering this rug for my living room. It’s inspired by an antique Turkish design but it’s large scale pattern gives it a unique twist!

There were quite a few pieces of furniture that caught my eye this week. Target sells a classic swivel chair for $420, which is a great price for upholstered furniture! and it would pair so well with this great side table. I also found a cute stool and it’s on sale at the time of writing this. It’s chair height so it can be used at a table.

And if you didn’t know, rustic black vases are trending right now. I found quite a few, including this one from one of my favorite vintage retailers.
