Gliders have really come a long way and if you haven’t shopped for an accent chair lately, you might not realize how stylish they have become. It used to be that you had to choose between form and function, but today’s stylish options give you the best of both worlds – a comfy place to sit and a beautiful piece to admire.
For purposes of this post, I’m including both gliders and rockers together in the “Glider” category. And no, I’m not talking about the old wooden rockers or even ones you’d expect to see in a baby’s room. I’m talking about stylish gliders that you can use as accent chairs in any room of your house that will look great and be comfortable!
I love the wingback chairs I have in my living room, but I miss having a rocking chair in the house. We always had a swivel rocker in my home growing up and when I sit in one, I find it so relaxing. So I scoured the internet looking for comfortable and stylish gliders and I’m sharing my favorites with you to save you the time and effort!
RH Tufted Tub Chair
Hello, beautiful! This swivel glider is perfect for conversation seating with it’s low back, but it’s the tufting that’s the real show-stopper. The tufting, pleats, and tailored skirt definitely give this more of a formal feel, but with comfort and functionality built in.
Believe it or not, this is actually from Restoration Hardware’s Baby & Child line, but there’s no need to hide this away in the baby’s room. There are three fabric selections for this chair, which is more limited than RH’s usual choices, but all are neutrals so that they’ll work in most spaces.
PB Comfort
This swivel glider from Pottery Barn is slipcovered, which makes cleaning it a breeze. There are about 50 different fabric choices, making it easier to coordinate with your home. It has traditional rolled arms and a generous back cushion for added comfort.
RH Classic Wingback
I wish I had see this chair when I was shopping for my living room because I think I would have ended up with this instead. Like the Pottery Barn chair above, this is a slipcovered chair making it easy to clean, but the wingback sides give it more of a formal look.
And with over 80 different fabrics to choose from, you’ll likely be able to find something that coordinates with your home.
Crate & Barrel Hathaway
The Hathaway has a more relaxed, cottage look and features deep seating for extra comfort. There are several fabric choices and many, many color options for each of those fabrics.
What’s nice about this particular chair is that there are 6 different options for the seat cushion, so you can select a firmness that is right for you.

Ballard Designs Larkin
The Larkin has a slim profile for a less bulky appearance, lending itself to a more modern style of decorating than some of the other options.
As a bonus, you’ve ever looked at upholstered pieces on Ballard Designs, then you’ll know the number fabric options can be overwhelming! Not to mention that you can supply your own fabric for this chair should you choose. A different fabric gives this chair and entirely different look and feel!
In my area, newly-built homes feature an open floor plan. In lieu of a formal dining or living room, they have a conversation area that is often composed of four chairs around a low table. Swivel gliders are a great option for these spaces because they allow people to turn their chair to face the conversation, no matter if they’re conversing with people in the adjacent kitchen or family room.
RH Classic Camelback
This chair features a graceful camelback silhouette and pleated English roll arms for a sophisticated look. This style is a classic and will look great for many years to come!
Wayfair Polly Swivel Glider & Ottoman
The Polly has a soft curved back, complemented by curved arms for a very traditional look. While the fabric options are limited to just two choices, the price can’t be beat and the reviews are fantastic! 
The look is a bit simpler than some of the others on this list, but would pair perfectly with a patterned sofa or in a quiet corner.
PB Irving Swivel Glider
I searched high and low for a leather glider that I liked! Most leather options have a very contemporary look and I wanted something more traditional. I love the basic shape of the Irving and that it comes in a variety of leather choices. The only downside for me, is that without a skirt, the glider mechanism is visible. It’s a small negative given the number of positives for this chair, though!
Harper Swivel Glider
This traditional wingback chair has more compact frame with is perfect if you’re limited on space. It also has a thick back cushion and plush seat for added comfort and is available in over 20 different fabrics.
Finding a stylish rocker/glider was truly more difficult than I had imagined. If your style is contemporary, there are lots of stunning chairs available, but finding a traditional chair that isn’t overly bulky and comes in fabric selections that will work with most homes was quite a chore! Y

It’s hard to pick just one but i did like the Harper it is a pretty chair. I am a smallish kind of person and don’t like chairs that i get lost in. I love to rock, it’s so soothing. Thanks these were wonderful.
