Here’s a tour of my family room with simple Fall decor for a casual look that uses a mix of white, sage, and terracotta
If you took my Fall dining room and living room tours, you’ll know that they had a bit more of an elegant feel to them. But my family room {which some refer to as a den – take the Poll below!} is a much more kid-friendly, casual place. So here’s a look at my cozy, casual family room decorated for Fall.
Fall Family Room Tour
I kept my usual blue in the room and just added a few Fall decor items throughout to bring in a true sense of the season.
I’m really not an orange person, so I went with white, sage green, and terracotta. The terracotta ties in nicely with my leather recliner!
I removed the architectural lamp that was on my side table and replaced it with a small Fall vignette.
I always save and dry my hydrangeas because they are so great to use for decorating. I took a group of them, in an array of colors, and added them to a small iron urn that a friend gave to me. The display fit perfectly on my side table. I added a small Ironstone dish with acorns for a pop of white to the otherwise, dark vignette.
On my painted coffee table, I often have this cute box that I picked up from Michaels.
I simply replaced items in two of the cubby holes and wa-la! Now it feels more like Fall.
The blues in my family room have always been a bit warmer than elsewhere in my house. To make it feel a bit more Fall, though, I brought in my dark blue cableknit throw. {And if you’re looking closely, yes, I got a new sofa! This was a Facebook find I just couldn’t pass up.}
On my console table behind the sofa, I just popped down an assortment of pumpkins with some dried, seeded eucalyptus. This table used to be in the living room, but I moved it when I got my new blue hutch.
In my large cabinet, I sprinkled in a few more Fall decor items just so that it tied in with the rest of the room.
The fireplace I kept pretty simple because there’s a lot going on elsewhere in the room. There’s just couple of lanterns, some pumpkins, and a bit of eucalyptus for color and that’s it.
I hope you enjoyed my tour and got some ideas for how you can use natural elements to decorate for Fall. To me, this creates more of a Fall style, versus a Fall theme.
And now a question for you. What do you call this type of room? My friend and I own the exact same model of home. She refers to it as a Den and I say Family Room. What’s your vote?

Wow, you are such a great stylist! So beautiful and chic yet so cozy!
Very pretty. I need to find a vintage sectioned box like the one you’ve used on your coffee table. I can see that it provides lots of options.
Hi Teddee! I wish I had a vintage box, but that one is actually a reproduction I found at Michaels.com. I do love having a sectioned box on the coffee table, though! When not used for seasonal decor, it usually holds the TV remotes and some drink coasters!
So beautiful. I love the blue, such a cozy and inviting room. Love how you mixed the trophy’s and cameras in with the books.
Hi Marty! Thank you so much! I LOVE old books…I actually want more but the local antique fair that happens every month is closed indefinitely due to COVID and that was always my go-to source for books.
You’re always the first to comment and it’s so nice to wake up and see a note from you! Out of curiosity, how do you find my new posts so quickly? How do you know a new post is up? I’m very curious…
