Here are 25 gorgeous French Country sconces that will add charm and character to any home. This curated list of the BEST French Country sconces includes both inspiration and resources!
What I love most about French Country sconces is that they often have a lot of character and charm to them. Beading, crystals, chippy wood and more give them a unique look, but their graceful style keeps them from looking too overpowering in a space.
Lately, I’ve been on the hunt for French wall lights that I can add above my living room mantel to flank my mansard mirror. {You can learn how to do this paint technique HERE}
I haven’t actually made my decision just yet, but thought I’d share my favorite finds with you!

Gorgeous French Sconces
I’m highlighting some of my favorites here, but in case you don’t see one that peaks your interest, there are more at the bottom of this post!
- Vendome Double Sconce – This might not strike you as a typical French Country sconce, but this traditional style fits in perfectly in a French space! What caught my eye was the shape of the arms and the hand-rubbed antique brass finish. I’ve included less expensive versions of this sconce below.
- Greta Gold Wall Sconce – This sconce is from Aidan Gray, one of my all-time favorite designers. I love the unique finish on this light fixture!
- Terracotta Lighting Jaima Sconce – Aged wood and iron give this light a rustic look while the center bow and petal bobeches keep it feminine!
- Lulea Tall Wood Sconce – Another Aidan Gray find is this tall wood sconce. If you don’t want something that has to be hardwired, this is perfect. It uses two candles!
- Stewart/Jargon Wall Sconce – The name varies depending on where you purchase this sconce. I think this would be beautiful in an entryway or going up a staircase.
- Hasselt Wall Sconce – This appears to be the gorgeous sconce pictured above from Brooke Giannetti.
- Bristol Wall Sconce – Treated to a Paris white finish stippled with flecks of gold, this three-arm sconce straddles stylistic notes from traditional to boho chic.
- Minka Lavery Abbott Place Collection – This two bulb sconce has a classic oak patina and stands almost 12″ tall. This would be beautiful in a hallway!
- Valletta Candle Sconce – Looks can be deceiving! This candle sconce is almost 3′ tall! It is almost identical to the Aidan Gray version but at almost half the price.
- Layla French Country Wall Sconce – Pictured above, this sconce is dramatic yet graceful! It’s aged finish gives it the look of a flea market treasure.
- Regina Andrew Clove Wall Sconce – This is a classic design with ribbed backplate and bobeches.
- Ancient Athens Sconce – The fixture is cast in a whitewash with details of distressed gold throughout the piece.

Remember, you can always paint a sconce if it isn’t the color your want. Maybe even add a little Rub n’ Buff! I added Dark Wax to my entryway sconces. You can watch the video below.

Kim: They are all gorgeous but with all you have going on with your gorgeous mirror I’d pick something more simple like 1. or 11. I’m thinking anything too ornate would have your mantel looking like Versailles and I don’t think that is the look you are going for; just saying.
Good luck and keep us informed.
