Today I’m sharing some of the projects and home updates I’m working on around the house. While normally this would be the time I’d share a full Spring Home Tour with you, the reality is that I haven’t left the house in 6 weeks now due to our Shelter in Place order. There’s been no shopping for fun Spring items or even pretty flowers for photos. Instead, I’ve been working with a lot of paint and a few online orders and today I’m sharing my latest quarantine home updates with you.

DINING ROOM

Last week I shared with you a small update I made in the dining room with the addition of two painted candle holders. It’s funny that when you look on Pinterest for dining room ideas, the rooms are typically set like the person is expecting a crowd for brunch or dinner at any given moment! But the reality is that most people don’t leave their tables fully set. Most people put decor on the dining table that stays there year-round and is moved only when the table is in use. Currently, this is my everyday dining table decor.

LIVING ROOM

I changed up the display on my Everett living room console table now that I’ve finished painting my second lamp. I simplified everything with the two lamps and some dried hydrangeas that I picked from my yard last season.

I purchased some Milk Paint a couple of weeks ago and wanted to test it out on something so I painted some leftover beads that I had from my chandelier project. I loved the color {MMS Shutter Grey} and decided to add the painted beads to my lamps just for fun.

You might already know that I have a love of old books, especially if they have deckled edges (rough cut). My husband surprised me with this amazing 1775 French dictionary this week that he won off of eBay so I added it, along with a few other books, to the console table.

In the background of the living room photo above you might notice that I’m experimenting with updating my fireplace decor. Currently, I’m using one of the frames that was on the wall as a placeholder to see if I want to change out my mirror for a large piece of art. I’m thinking of using this watercolor image from Etsy above the mantel.

Tip: You can purchase digital downloads from Etsy and have them printed up locally or from Nations Photo Lab.

FAMILY ROOM

In my family room, my side table from Overstock.com arrived and has found a home next to my leather recliner. I added an architectural lamp that I purchased at a local consignment store on top, along with a few books and a fern.

I’m also chalk painting a coffee table that I purchased years ago on Craigslist and despite having painted it two times now, I still haven’t found the look I want. For one day, it had a very chippy look in taupes and greys…. {I used THIS tutorial}

Then I gave it a more refined look but it was too striated for my liking on this table. This is a fantastic finish, though, so I’ll definitely use it on a future project and post a tutorial.

For now, I’ve decided to leave it alone until I decide on a look that I want!
