A curated collection of ten gorgeous French country chandeliers at a variety of prices. These chandeliers provide elegance and beauty to any room.
My heart stops a little whenever I see a gorgeous French Country chandelier. To be clear, I’m not talking about French crystal chandeliers. I’m referring to rustic French Country chandeliers with lovely distressed patina finish, swooping arms, and dripping wax lights.
To me, rustic French chandeliers they add a bit of European elegance and are real show-stoppers!
This room looks and feel like you’re dining in the french countryside! Designer Tara Shaw has an amazing eye for mixing antique and contemporary pieces.
Adjoining the breakfast nook is the kitchen, where two small french chandeliers hang like pendant lights above the kitchen island. Designer from Tara Shaw.
This primary bedroom from Brooke Giannetti uses a gold-toned chandelier as central lighting in the room.
In fairness, some of these might be authentic french antiques! And while I’d love a true antique, they are very pricey, especially when you calculate shipping! Plus, I’d likely have to rewire it for modern, U.S. lighting codes.
Thankfully, I’ve found some gorgeous reproductions in a wide variety of prices. And at the end of this point, I’m sharing ideas for zhooshing up a new chandelier to give it more of a rustic look!
On my “someday” list is a new French Country chandelier for my dining room. With so much time spent at home these days, I’ve been doing some online browsing and thought I’d share with you 10 gorgeous French Country chandeliers that I found!
10 Rustic French Country Chandeliers
The chandeliers below are a mix of price points and sizes, but all equally beautiful! I’ve provided some size buying tips, hanging tips, and upgrade ideas at the end of the post.
1. Regina Andrew Wood Carved 8-Light Chandelier
For homes with a standard 8′ ceiling, this is a great option with lots of charm! It’s a large chandelier with a diameter of 49″ but a height of only 31″.
2. Aged Cottage Chic Chandelier – 6 Light
This mid-sized chandelier looks like it could be a Provence antique with its lovely patina and carved center column. This would look lovely in an entryway!
3. LNC 6-Light Retro White Wood Chandelier
This chandelier has gold accents and a leaf motif that make it elegant and suited for any room. Personally, I would probably buy some new candle sockets that feature a drip wax design {see end of post}, but for the size, this one is reasonably priced!
4. Maura 6-Light Chandelier
This is a gorgeous French country chandelier and for some reason, I’m obsessed with the tassel shape at the bottom! A perfect choice if you’re looking for a beautiful rustic chandelier.
5. 6-Light Antique White Wood French Country Farmhouse Chandelier
Compared to the others on the list, this design is a bit more simplified, but the shape is refined and the price is excellent!
6. Catania Vintage Style French Country Chandelier
I have this chandelier in my kitchen above my table and *love* it. I did have to modify it a bit, though. My kitchen ceiling is only 7 1/2′ high so this was a bit too long. I cut the bottom of the column off to make it shorter and now it fits perfectly! It’s currently out of stock on Amazon but fingers crossed it’ll be back soon!
7. Bailey Elegant Manor Chandelier
At 40″ x 42″, this is a large chandelier and the price is very good for the size! The all wood finish gives it a bit more of a rustic look than some of the others, but still quite beautiful!
8. Aidan Gray Italian 6-Light Chandelier
Aidan Gray is one of my favorite designers and the quality is superb. The finish on this chandelier is stunning but the pricetag is hefty.
9. LNC 6-Light Antique Metal Wood French Country Chandelier
This six arm chandelier has a distressed whitewash finish and a nice patina on the metal. The bell-shaped finial could be removed if the chandelier was a bit too tall for your space.
10. Terracotta Designs ENRICA Chandelier
Reminiscent of 19th century France this chandelier has a lovely, aged patina finish. While smaller in size, the addition of the beads gives it an overall larger, heavier appearance than it is.
What Size Chandelier to Buy
Find the Right Width
- To find the right width, add the room’s length and width in feet; the sum equals an approximate chandelier diameter in inches.
How High to Hang a Chandelier
- In a dining room or kitchen, a chandelier should hang 30″-36″ above a table
- In living rooms and entryways, a chandelier should hang 7′ off the floor
- You can add 3″ for each foot of ceiling over 8′
How to Upgrade an Inexpensive Chandelier
In general, a chandelier at a lower price point has less details. For example, instead of distressed or rustic iron arms, it might be plain black. Or instead of drip wax socket covers, they might be plain white or black. Remember you can always upgrade the look a bit with some creativity!
