Ideas for simple and neutral Christmas decorating! Give your family room a festive feel with just some ornaments and greenery!

Okay, technically the title of this post isn’t exactly accurate. As it turned out, I have my family room photos from last year that I never shared with you. So while I’m just sharing these photos for the first time this year, these were actually taken last year. You might notice a few things around that you saw in my living room this year!

Let’s start over in the corner where my TV used to be. After hanging the TV above the fireplace, I can now use this space for decor and styled vignettes.

I basically used this space to create three vignettes across the top of the console.

The first of the three vignettes is this white feather tree display. You know I can’t resist a feather tree! I varied the height by stacking them on books…my favorite kind with decked edges!

A simple bowl full of ornaments is such an easy decorating idea but looks very festive! This is actually a round dough bowl, which is a bit harder to find than the oblong ones.

A few cloches next to my demijohn created another vignette. Do you recognize the vintage-style Santa? I paired it with an actual vintage Christmas tree that I picked up at a thrift store.

Overall, this room is decorated very simply for the holidays. I did this intentionally because if you remember, I had a newly flocked tree decorated with loops of blue ribbon in my living room!

The coffee table has a simple tree in a vintage urn with a second dough bowl full of votives and a feather boa for “snow”. Okay…and one more feather tree! Lol!

Behind the sofa on my console table, I have two lamps flanking a third dough bowl! This oblong bowl is full of ornaments with bits of greenery at the base. And you might recognize those bells from this year’s living room Christmas mantel!

Over in the corner, I hung some greenery, grain sacks and bells on my old orchard ladder. I’ve since sold that ladder and replaced it with a different one but I still use it to display grain sacks.

My side table has a few simple white houses next to a tree that might look familiar to you…

And the garland on the fireplace? This is actually the same garland that’s in my living room this year, but without the extra picks of greenery. On it’s own, while realistic-looking, this garland isn’t particularly full.

But more importantly, I played around with the art on my Frame TV testing out different images.

I hope this tour has given you some ideas for your own home. Plus, you can see how I used the same items year after year but displayed them differently for a “new” look!

And don’t miss these holiday tours!
