It’s time for my 2024 Fall family room tour! You won’t spot a scarecrow or a “Fall Y’all” pillow in this room, but I think you’ll still agree that it gives all the cozy feels of Autumn.
It was probably just over 100º when I hauled my Fall decor boxes out of storage in the middle of August. But that’s how blogging works!
So while you were enjoying the last lazy days of Summer, I was entrenched in Fall. I was so early this year that I couldn’t find any pumpkins other than a few small white ones the day before I photographed! Luckily, I have some great realistic-looking pumpkins that I used instead.
Last Fall was the first time I dipped my toe into a forest green color palette. This year, I embraced it! And let me tell you, I’m in LOVE with this room this season. This year’s color palette is dark green mixed with shades of brown and just a hint of terracotta.
You might notice there have been a couple of changes to this room. I replaced my French coffee table with this square one that I found at the consignment store. The old table was too big but I made do with what I had…until I saw this beauty! It was blue when I bought it but I gave it a quick coat of chalk paint topped with dark wax to have it fit in better with this room. (You can find the tutorial for painting this table here.)
Personally, I think it looks like it was always meant to be this color, but I’m biased…
I styled my new coffee table using The Four Corners approach, which works really well on a square coffee table.
One corner has my new favorite Walmart vase full of hydrangea blossoms. Other corner has a glass and brass box with feathers inside. Then there’s a tray with a candle (and normally the TV remote, too). Lastly, just a stack of books with a petrified wood bowl.
Would you believe that this is a mix of fresh, dried, and faux hydrangeas?! Can you tell which is which?
The new coffee table is accessible from all of the sofa seating areas, so I don’t really feel like I need a side table in this room. Instead, I’m just using my antique harvest basket at the end of the sofa to hold extra throws and pillows.
If you’ve read my guide to throw pillows, you’ll know that I think this is too many for a sofa. Where would anyone sit? But more pillows look better in a picture so I included all my favorites.
I am obsessed with these new Fall stems that I bought this year. The last I checked, they were just $4.99 and they look so good! They’re called Maple Stems, but I think they look more like Magnolia so I mixed in a couple of green Magnolia branches to bring out the green in the Fall stems.
The green printed pillows are both fantastic. One is from Amazon and the other is from Pottery Barn. I actually plan to use them again for my Christmas decor. I love pillows that can transition between seasons!
The green velvet ruffle pillows come in a pack of 2 for under $20! And they are so super soft. Color choices are limited or I would have bought more!
This little bowl is a new favorite of mine. I picked it up from Hobby Lobby while shopping for Christmas ornaments for $18. I added the one real pumpkin I was able to find in mid-August. Lol!
My TV art has been updated for the season. I haven’t picked a favorite this year so I keep rotating between images.
On the other side of the room, I placed another lumbar pillow on my recliner. I’m not sure I’ve ever photographed this floor lamp before, but it’s from Amazon and I love it.
On the side table, I just put some dried baby’s breath in an antique urn with a couple of feathers. A super simple Fall vignette!
And over by my DIY Intaglio wall, I placed some faux hops in a black vase with a LED candle!

So much to love, but finally, I found the floor lamp I needed. That is the best lamp. I was flipping my mattress one day and it fell on my lamp and broke it.
Would you do a tutorial on painting the coffee table?
Hi Carlee! Sure! I didn’t really take any pictures because I didn’t think anyone would be interested, but I can figure something out. This was actually such a simple makeover that you’ll definitely want to give it a try if you’re looking to update a piece of furniture. I’ll try to get in done in the next week…two at most. :) Kim
Hi! Love the new coffee table! What paint color did you use under the dark wax? Thanks!
Hi Janice! Thank you! I painted it with a Magnolia Home color called Putty.
Whoops! I lied! It was Dixie Bell paint, color Putty. Sorry!
